What's the current consensus of opinion on this drive?
I'm in the process of setting up a new Pro6 with dual redundancy. I purchased 4 x ST2000DL003 from one supplier and 2 x ST2000DL003 from another supplier.
Out of the first batch one drive failed within a few hours of setting the unit up. I RMA'ed that drive.
Then a few days later a second drive failed from the second batch. I also RMA'ed that drive.
In both cases no SMART errors were received, but after the disc failure SEATOOLS reported errors with the drives.
I factory defaulted the unit (now with one of the drives being a ST2000NM0011 - it should have been a ST32000644NS)
After a few hours of creating a dual redundancy xraid2 volume I had a third ST2000DL003 fail. I rebooted the unit and the failure has gone away and now the unit is happily synching away.
So within a week I've had 3 apparent failures out of a batch of 7 (one replacement from an RMA).
