Those models are pretty old, and aren't on the RN102 compatibility list. You will probably be denied support if you use them. Though I suspect they will work.
"Connecting them together" is RAID-0 (so you are "trying to do a raid"). If you do that, then if either drive fails you will lose all your data. It is much safer to use "jbod". That keeps the disks independent, so a failure of one drive won't affect the other.
However, spanning RAID-0 is available in flexraid.
