Trying to use ST3000DM001 3TB drive in USB dock

Thanks for the pointer to the topic, the suggestion to refresh cache was what i needed in order to see the new options. Remote is working.
Now back to the formatting of the drive, what is the magic to enable ssh/telnet access so I can try using the mkfs? I don't see anything in setting, and i only see an add-on (which has a support caveat). Or suggestions on how to do it in OS/X?
