What firmware are you running on your NAS?
I don't know what firmware my Pro2 came with (its only a week old), but I successfully backed it up via the front USB 3.0 port to an IOmega Blackbelt USB 3.0 drive.
Then I upgraded the firmware on my readyNAS to Version: 4.2.17.
Now the NAS won't even find the Blackbelt no matter which USB port I plug it into.
