I am having this problem also. I have just purchased a StarTech SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to 3.5" SATA Enclosure and it comes with an external power supply. I put a WD Green 2TB drive in it (same drive as in my ReadyNas Ultra 2Plus and tested it with my USB 3.0 port on a Windows 7 box (works fine). I took it downstairs and plugged it into the front USB port on the ReadyNas and powered it on. The green status light comes on the front of the ReadyNas and then blinks a few times. I waited 30 seconds and pressed the Backup button. The USB enclosure blue status light flashes indicating, I think, that the drive is being accessed. Then I get an email from the ReadyNas that that the backup has been aborted because the USB drive can't be found.
I'm running Firmware 4.2.22... Any Ideas?
