Upgrading from Nas Duo V1 to RN104
Im after a little help. I am planning on upgrading my now aging Nas Duo V1. My plan is to get a RN10400-100EUS.
My first question (which i think i know the answer) is can I take the 2 1GD drives (which are X-RAID (Expandable RAID)) out of the Duo and slot them into the RN104, retaining the data?
Now I think the answer is no, so if it is, how best do I go about moving the data?
I half had the thought of taking 1 drive, formatting it, and putting it in to the RN140, then putting the other drive in to a USB caddy plugged in the back of the RN104 and doing one hell of a lot of dragging and dropping. Surely there is a better way, I hope :)
Any help would be most welcome.
Thanks all

- RXLuminaryIts best that you back up all of your data from your Duo v1 first to a spare drive or free space in your PC/laptop. Then when you have already the RN104 in hand, you could transfer the data to it.
Kindly check this link: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... os6-nas%3F - NhellieVirtuosoI think I have seen some post about success in transferring drives from a legacy unit to the OS6, but I believe they should have an Intel Processor or they should have an x86 platform.
This link above shows that it is not possible(?): - Gandalf9114AspirantThank you very much. I missed that when I was digging around on the site. I was looking around for RN104 not realising it was classed as an "OS6 NAS". I thought that was to do with MAC help when I first saw it. lol
Thanks again. - NhellieVirtuosoYup, they don't use the model numbers now since they all have the same OS, so all (or most of) the configuration apply to all models.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou can boot up 4.2.x xraid2 on some OS6 NAS, but you still need to save the data off, and rebuild from scratch. That is intended to help people with failed older NAS - so it doesn't apply to you.
I think your best option is to get new disks for the new NAS, and migrate over the network (copying data via a backup job).
Though if the disks are good, you could migrate one disk to the RN104 (which will then be rebuilt), and then copy the data over the network. Then remove the second disk, and add it to the RN104 array. If anything goes wrong you can lose data though, because you lose redundancy when you migrate the first disk.
Though [lecture]you really ought to have a backup strategy in place anyway. RAID is not enough to keep your data safe[/lecture]
