Upgrading ReadyNas NVX to RN202
Hi All,
I have (had) a Ready Nas NVX with 2 x 1TB Western Digital WD1002FBYS drives installed.
Due to a power surge the unit is now dead.
I do not know what the firmware version the NVX was running.
I have purchased a Rady nas RN202 and want to know if I can just swap the drives from the NVX to the RN202. Firmware version 6.4.2
Thanks
Robin
You should be able to migrate your disks to the ultra-2 (keeping them in order). Make sure the disks are in the same order. The firmware installed on the ultra-2 should be the same as the NVX or newer.
It's conceivable you'll need an OS-reinstall (the ultra-2 is 64 bit, the NVX is 32 bit), but I don't think you will.

Hello isaacbear,
Welcome to the community!
NVX and RN202 do not have the same architecture and OS so you cannot use the disks from the NVX on an OS6 (RN202) unit expecting that it will keep the data intact. If you have full back up of the data, you may start from scratch on the RN202 unit with the old disk so it will create a volume and you can transfer the data from the backup to the volume of the RN202.

Dear Jennc,
Thank you for the quick response.
Could I use a ReadyNas Duo instead of the RN202.
Thanks

No. The Duo v2 uses a different CPU architecture and OS regardless of which Duo it is. Also it would be a downgrade from the NVX.
You could get e.g. a RN312. You may find this article helpful: ReadyNAS: Migrating disks from RAIDiator to OS 6
