W10 network locations ReadyNAS icon contents incorrect
I have installed a new RN424. As part of the procecess, I renamed, deleted, and added shares. However, in W10 explorer under "this PC > network locations > ReadyNAS 424 (icon), the old default shares...
The additional folders are just media types. For instance if you put a video into the media share, it will also shown if you click on the video "folder". If you happen to put a video into your "audio" folder, then it will also be shown in the "video" folder.

I would disable it. You can always re-enable it if you find a reason for it.
In general, I suggest disabling all services you don't need via the system->settings menu.
I have rebooted my PC, and the icon remained. It is also present on the three other PC's on our network. The icon appeared when I powered up the NAS for the first time, even before the initial network drive sync had completed.
I can browse the icon, but the contents are the default shares. I tried saving a file to it, but this icon does not appear in the list of destinations for saving.
When selecting the icon, one of the possible operations is to "delete device." I am afraid to try that, as it might corrupt access to our shares through the device name folder listed under "network."
I wish I could "refresh" this icon, as I may like to access the new shares through it, instead of by adding network drives.
This icon is NOT present on a PC that was only powered up after the NAS initial sync and initial configuration was completed.
I must correct a previous comment. After refreshing the explorer on the machine that I have just now turned on, the icon does indeed appear in the explorer, and it also exhibits the default, presumably non-existent, shares.
Did you enable ReadyDLNA? If so, is this icon a "media device"?
Note that if it is ReadyDLNA, then the "folders" aren't shares - they are media types.
DLNA is enabled for two folders (audio and media) that appear under the "browse folders" under the "mystery icon."
In addition, folders "music," "pictures," and "video" appear as folders under the mystery icon. These folders are not listed under the shares in the admin page.
The two folders that are currently configured for DLNA (audio and media), while I intend for them to contain audio and other media, will be direct-mapped by the applications that will use them, and I have no need that I am aware of for DLNA (as far as I know; I only have a basic understanding on DLNA.)
Do you advise that I disable DLNA for the audio and media shares?
