Very true. Though updates to the v1 lists don't appear to be a priority for Netgear. So not being on the list for the v1 doesn't necessarily mean it won't work.

Using drives that aren't on the HCL will likely result in loss of on-line support though, so I wouldn't move off the HCL without a good reason. I'd pass on the Caviar Greens at this point though, I think you'd be better off taking a risk on the new Reds than going with them.
