I am using a 2 TB WDC WD20EFRX drive in my Duo V1, and it is working flawlessly. The WD RED WD10EFRX is on Netgear's HCL for the NV+ v1.
I'd price 2 TB drives also. They are only about $30 more per drive in the US at the moment. 3x2TB would give you 1 more TB of space (compared with 4x1TB), and only cost you $33 more. And you'd get an open slot for expansion.
