WD2002FYPS - 2TB
Just upgraded from original Seagate 1Tb to brand new Western Digital 2Tb WD2002FYPS in a ReadyNAS 1100. All right! /Dat4WD

I popped a WD2002FYPS into my NV+ the other day. Initialisation and resynching went fine, but I did get the insanely fast increase in "load cycle count" that others have reported. Are you guys seeing the same thing (in the SMART information for the drive, obtained via FrontView)? My old plain (non-Green) WD's have racked up something like 2500 Load Cycles in over a year of service, the WD2002FYPS got to the same amount in a matter of days, and it will hit the maximum rated cycles before the year is out at this rate.
WD have acknowledged a problem with the "Green" feature of their newer drives, especially in combination with Linux or various NAS boxes. For the 750G to 1.5TB drives they have released a utility that disables the Green feature, but the tool does not work on the 2TB drives (yet). Until they address this issue, I'm not using these 2TB drives in my ReadyNAS.
