WD2002FYPS - 2TB
Just upgraded from original Seagate 1Tb to brand new Western Digital 2Tb WD2002FYPS in a ReadyNAS 1100. All right! /Dat4WD

Responsible? Hard to say... It's WDC's drive falling asleep too fast, and the ReadyNAS waking it up too soon. :) Apparently this issue occurs on many Linux based systems including various NAS systems.
WDC make a tool called WDIdle3.exe with which you can turn off the Green sleep feature (Google for the tool, it's not on the WDC site). You need to connect the drive to a pc (disconnect all others), then boot into DOS and run the tool. I've done that on one drive yesterday and according to the logs, the Load cycle count has been increasing normally so far. For further explanation see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=25733
