I finally replaced the disks. Please see this thread for more info. With the WD disks, the system was getting hot and the fan was operating at more than 3.000 rpms and this occurred about 20 times per day. Since the weather in Greece is like hell right now (33C at 1.00am!!), i could not sleep because of the noise, and despite having the NAS in another room, i could still hear the fan working. With the new disks it seems to be operating fine.
EDIT: After almost a week, the fan operated at normal speeds (i think around 750rpms). So the RE4 disks DEFINITELY cause the heating problem.
