WD20EARS WDIDLE3 post formating question

I have a NetGear ReadyNas NV+ 4-bay NAS Drive Enclosure with (currently) 2 Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARS 2TB drives. In my eagerness to get my NAS up and running I installed the drives and formatted everything without running through the WDIDLE3 tool to fix the LCC issue on the drives. I regret doing that and my question is once the drives are formatted is it too late to fix the LCC problem? I don't care if I have to reformat the drives after and lose whatever is on them I just don't want to attempt to use the WDIDLE3 tool if it's tool late to do so.

  • As a follow up is the WDIDLE3 tool the only way to go or has anyone been able to find a successful alternative? I've seen some posts about possible other options but nothing with a proven record of working so far.
