WD30EFRX 3TB "Red Series"
Has anyone tried any of the RED series? I am looking to get the 3TB model for an NV+ v2. It is listed as compatible, but has anyone tried it themselves?
Thanks.
Thanks.

- CausticAspirantI think the data sheet refers to the fact that the device can be bought from shops with either no disks, a pair of 1TB's or a pair of 2TB's. They should work fine, best HDD's around IMHO.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI have one in my Pro that is working well.
The WD30EFRX is on the HCL for the ultra 2 (and all other x86 ReadyNAS) - http://www.readynas.com/?page_id=82 - PapaBear1ApprenticeThe data sheet was printed before 3TB drives were available. Just make sure you are running Raidiator 4.2.16 or higher.
- skataAspirantThanks! I'm thinking about getting an ultra 4 though, so then I would two more =). But it seems like it has both a slower processor and DDR2 memory which sounds ancient but two HDD slots is just not enough for me...
- CausticAspirantIf you want a 4 bay NAS box (which I think is the minimum really) then an Ultra 4 or an NV+ V2 are your two best choices. It all comes down to cost, the later are much much cheaper and have USB3 but the Ultra 4's are faster and have far more prosumer grade features.
- skataAspirantThanks for your suggestion! As I said before, the drawbacks with "upgrading" to an ultra 4 is that the processor and the memory is slower. I'm not sure how much this will affect my applications but I guess that I should take this discussion to another thread where it's more suitable.
I have now installed two 3TB red series in my ultra 2 and it works fine!
