Bad news: it's not okay. Something happened to the Western Digital RE4-GP drive that we purchased, and the whole ReadyNAS stopped working. Removing the Western Digital drive brought the ReadyNAS back online.
Lesson learned: Use only Hitachi Ultrastar.
