Will Not Buy a ReadyNAS ever again
It's not because of the hardware. The hardware in its basic form works. It's because of the COMPLETE LACK OF APPS. If all I wanted was a cage for drives, I'd buy an ESATA frame. I bought a Ready...

Stop me, if I'm wrong but 4.x and 5.x are, like OS6, fully fledge Debians, aren't they ? So what is the problem with apps ? you should be able to SSH and install them yourself. Of course depending on what you do Netgear has the right to deny support but if you need those apps they surely can be installed somehow.
Can you tell us what you miss ? I think priori to OS6 community repositories took a great part in apps management, did you stick to netgear environment or did you check poussin and whocares repositories (there may be other I don't know about) ?
