CAn't access share over MACOSX
Hi,
I set up readynas remote and it is working fine for windows 7.
but on OSX, when I go to click on readynas remote client and click connect I get the following error
There was a problem connecting to the server "5.###.##.##"
The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address and check your network connection.
What's happening?

- LeiaNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhich version of Mac OS do you use? I've checked Lion and Snow Leopard, all ok for me.
And could you please check these?
1. Is the CIFS enabled in your box?
2. Please access your box via CIFS on your MAC client. Finder->Go->Connect to Server... smb://your_nas_ip - kam1AspirantOk I tried remote on another OSX and it works!
but my desktop OSX is still not working.... How can I debug readynas remote client? is there logs or anything out there? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredPlease answer Leia's questions above. Is the version of Mac OS X the same on both your Macs? If not please mention the version of Mac OS X on each system.
What version of the Remote client?
What are the model identifiers of your Macs, both the one it worked on and the one it didn't? - kam1AspirantHi,
readynas remote V1.0.34
both laptop and desktop have the latest OSX lion.
CIFS is enabled and when I follow Leia's steps to connect it works on laptop but not on desktop where it tells me that the device Im trying to reach doesn't exist.
Is there any logs I can look at? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHave you tried installing the 10.7.4 Combo Update then re-installing ReadyNAS Remote?
- kam1AspirantYes I did, same behavior :$
- LeiaNETGEAR Employee RetiredHi Kam,
Due to ReadyNAS Remote is CIFS based working on MAC OS client, could you please check CIFS access NAS shares and the share which shared by your own Windows PC or Mac?
Finder->Go->Connect to Server... smb://your_nas_ip
If you have no Windows PC, you can share a folder via CIFS like this:
System Preferences->Sharing->Enable "File Sharing"->add a shared folder whatever you want. Make sure "Share files and folders using SMB(Windows)" is ticked in "Options".
Thanks,
-Leia - kam1AspirantHi,
When I try to connect from a MAC using smb://ipaddress, I get still the same message saying that the server does not exist.
I am going mad :)
Any ideas? - LeiaNETGEAR Employee RetiredPlease check your PM.
- kam1AspirantIt still doesn't work :$
IS there any logs I can read?
