"Error" Software caused connection abort" - Readynas Remote
Yesterday I was using Readynas Remote for the iPhone without any issues. Today I am getting this "Error - Software caused connection abort" after the iPhone connects to the NAS and I get the "Reading Shares" dialogue, it hangs and this error pops up. I re-installed the iPhone app, removed and added my profile from the remote settings on the NAS and also reinstalled the firmware, but I am still getting the same error. One more thing. If I try to connect again after getting this error I get a different error - "Invalid host". Any suggestions to solve this?

- NV_v2AspirantOk, it's a new day, and the ReadyNAS Remote for iPhone is working properly again, without any issues. Was this a Netgear server issue or what? I did not make any changes overnight to the NAS. Is there a webpage I can look at to see if it is a server issue, or a number I can call to check without trying to be sold a $500 service plan? Basically I would just like to know what caused the issue for future reference.
- NV_v2AspirantOk, I updated the app on my iPhone to the latest version, and now I am getting this error again, and this time it is not going away. Any suggestions? How can I downgrade to the previous version?
- ihartleyTutorI have yet to get any satisfactory results with the Android app and NV+ v2. Either it doesn't connect or it drops out on long paths. I've given up on it and use the http interface - that way it doesn't involve netgear
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI generally use ftp (ftps preferred), as there are several android and ipad apps that support it. That also lets me resume uploads/downloads.
- ajst2dukAspirantI have the same error now witj the updated app - and I've had major issues with an ipad as well
- nexus30AspirantI'm also having the same issue, can someone guide me through how i can debug this?
Cheers - ArvinAspirantSame here.... updated latest apps RN Remote and ReadyDLNA on iPhone and iPad, both of them stopped working. Can sign-on but not view anything after receiving ´Software caused connection abort´ in RN Remote and in ReadyDLNA it just stays on the screen ´Connecting...´. Remote access from a PC still works so settings are fine. Would appreciate that Netgear comes asap with an update/solution as this is not what I expect from a professional company. Regards...
- ihartleyTutorAre the same software engineers writing the app and writing the software that keeps your data safe???????????
- NV_v2AspirantI'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who experienced a problem since Netgear updated their iOS app. Why doesn't Netgear respond to these issues?
- GregWolfAspirantHi -
I had the same problem and I finally figured out how to get it working. First let me state how I have things set up. I have 2 shares defined, both allowing CIFS and FTP access. I configured FTP access = user.
After installing ReadyNAS Remote, I then added a user. Based on my testing a user has to be added in 2 places. The first is in the Users under the Security tab and the second place is when you go into the Manage ReadyNAS Remote tab. For convenience I defined both usernames and passwords the same.
While in the Manage ReadyNAS Remote tab, click on the Advaced Settings on the lower left corner. When you see the new screen you will notice that by default Enable Encryption is enabled. Uncheck this option and apply. I think this should resolve your issue. Once I did this I was able to successfully see all my shares and files.
Hope this works for you.
