Help with install Drupal 7.7 / update from Drupal 6.22

Hi evereybody..
After some days of try and error..i obtain unfortunately only error.. :(
The goal is: obtainig a Drupal7.7 installation ok on a NetGear Ready NAS Pro with 4.2.18.

The 2 ways i used to obtain the goal are the following:

A- upgrading from Drupal 6.22 to Drupal 7.7

B- installing Drupal 7.7

A. The step i do in this case are the following:
01. Download the bin file created by Super Poussin based on Drupal 6.6 ( viewtopic.php?f=48&t=22732 ) (OK)
02. Install from the web interface of my PRO (front view) . (OK)
03. Launch the setup from the web interface (OK)
04. Downloading from the official Drupal site tha latest Drupal 6 version (the 6.22)
05. Follow the instruction to upgrade (put the site in maintenance mode, launch the update.php,etc.etc.) (OK)
06. Connect like admin and put the site again in normal mode. (OK)
07. The site is now OK with the 6.22 release. (OK)
08. Download the 7.7 Drupal Release from the official site (OK)
09. Follow the instruction to upgrade (put the site in maintenance mode, launch the update.php,etc.etc.) (OK)

At the end of the previous operations i see the following messages:

user module

Update #7000
•User passwords rehashed to improve security

Update #7002
•Migrated user time zones

Update #7014
•Renamed the 'post comments without approval' permission to 'skip comment approval'.

system module

Update #7007
•Inserted into {role_permission} the permissions for role ID 1, Inserted into {role_permission} the permissions for role ID 2

It's seem no big problem occurred..but...it's no more possible to put the site in Online Mode..there is no more possibility to connect with any user..

10. Connect like admin and put the site again in online mode. (KO)

I receive the following error messages:

•Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$content in include() (line 9 of /c/webroot/drupal/themes/garland/block.tpl.php).
•Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$content in include() (line 9 of /c/webroot/drupal/themes/garland/block.tpl.php).

B: The step i do in this case are the following:
01. Download the 7.7 Drupal Release from the official site (OK)
02. Follow the instruction to install opening the browser to http://nas_ip/drupal (KO)

I receive an HTTP 404 Error..and nothing else.. :(

Is there anyone that have already tried to do this job...?
I need please some help to obtain the goal..

Thank you very much to every people who try to helping me dedicate the most important thing in our life.. time

have a good day..

    Hi,
Did you succeed updating to 7.x ?
    Thank you.
  • I had no success on this. I got stuck with the initial update. The update help says to update original directories the copy in the new ones, copy back the sites folder, and run the update.php. All my permissions must be wrong. I get the message "You don't have permission to access /drupal/ on this server." any ideas?

The bottom line is that the current Drupal bin is not up to date enough to deal with the current PHP plugin. On top of that, it doesnt seem possible to update from the bin version to the latest official site version. So currently the plugin offered cannot be used.

To be honest, help here or in the actual developer sites is absolutely crap. Not just for this plugin, but for all. I have had no end of problems with plugins for the Ultra, and if there are fixets, they are convoluted and long winded. I'm a software engineer, so i would hate to be in the shoes anyone else dealing with these nas boxes. I have found missing URLs to install help files which are crucial and PHP files that splash the OS. The whole site is so amateurish, and Netgear should get behind it and support it better.
  • I'm sorry for reply so late..
    No, i do not succeed...No update... :(
until Netgear will not update the firmware (the core...) on the ReadyNAS Pro will not install updated software ...
