- SootchuckerAspirantHi guys, sorry real newbie here. Rather than delve through 54 pages of this thread, is there an idiots guide to using Transmission on an N+ V2 ? I've installed the add on successfully, but that's pretty much where it ends. I've absolutely no idea where to go from there ? Do I need any other software ?
Am I right in assuming that if I get this right, I can remotely log into my ReadyNas using ReadyNas Remote (which I can do now from my work PC), go into the admin page and run the add on from there and download torrents to the NAS remotely whilst I'm at work. I am a member of a Torrent site so I do have access to some torrents to test it if I can get it working ?
As I said, I'm a real newbie so small words please :D :D
Thanks in advance. - JarnoGGuideHi Sootchucker,
I can't help you with the specifics of configuring Transmission on a NV+ v2 since it is different from the Ultra 2 I'm using. However, I can tell you that using ReadyNAS Remote, you have full access to your ReadyNAS. This means that you have all the options as if you are on a local network with your NAS, including the admin page from your NAS (Dashboard) and the Transmission webGUI. You can also use software like Transmission Remote dotNET or Transmission Remote GUI to control the Transmission add-on (also over the ReadyNAS Remote connection). - buchi86AspirantTry to install Transmission_2.50.01

This I also would like to know ... :)
My duo dies last week, I'm looking for a replacement hoping the disks are good
sorry for this guy
Have you had any luck with this?
Failing that, any chance you would consider releasing your build environment, or a build recipe; so someone else can roll a newer release for sparc? - super_poussinVirtuosoI don't think I will be able to develop again on sparc :( sorry
- whcAspirantCannot get transmission to run, and if I try to enter the Interface I just get the following errors below. First time user so don't know what I am doing wrong.
When i try to start the service i get this error:
Transmission service failed to start.
When trying to enter Transmission Interface i get this error:
403: Forbidden
Unauthorized IP Address.
Either disable the IP address whitelist or add your address to it.
If you're editing settings.json, see the 'rpc-whitelist' and 'rpc-whitelist-enabled' entries.
If you're still using ACLs, use a whitelist instead. See the transmission-daemon manpage for details.
Running on:
ReadyNAS Ultra 4
RAIDiator 4.2.22
Transmission v2.73.01
Any help is much appreciated! I am a newbie, so step by step please :). - JarnoGGuideEasiest is to do what the message says and check your settings.json. To do so, you will have to log in on your NAS using CIFS or FTP (other protocols might work, but I never tried those) with the admin account. You will then see a share named "addons_config". In the share is a folder named "Transmission" with a folder named "transmission-daemon" in it.
The settings.json file is in that folder.
Open the file with a text editor like Notepad++ or UltraEdit. Don't use Windows Notepad or WordPad since it will save the file in a Windows format which will cause Transmission to crash when loading the settings.
In settings.json, the parameter 'rpc-whitelist-enabled' should be false if you don't want to use a whitelist for the ip addresses that are allowed to access the Transmission interface. - whcAspirant

Thanks that fixed the Interface now working, but still not able to start Transmission, how to find the complete path for download folder? - whcAspirant

Any help is appreciated, can simply not get it working! - JarnoGGuideThe complete path to your download folder will be something like
"/c/[name of share]/[path to folder inside the share]"
The path is case sensitive. You will have to make sure that the user "nobody" has read/write rights in those folders (that means the download-dir, the incomplete-dir and (if you enabled it) the watch-dir).
In my case, it is:
"/c/media/BitTorrent/Downloaded"
You can specify those directories in the settings.json file.
