No apps available on my ReadyNAS102 after a factory reset

First, the version of debian linux that the NAS runs has been archived, so you do need to make some changes to the apt configuration of the NAS. These are described here:

Thanks for the information you sent me which includes the application I want to install. As suggested by Netgear support I have installed firmware version 6.10.9 but I have been unable to follow the instructions for changing to Debian Jessie. I am not sure where or how to put the revised code given on the community page as there does not appear to be a facility for this on my RN10200. I would be grateful for any further help you could provide.

The RN102 is already running Debian Jessie. The problem is that Debian Jessie has been deprecated by the Debian community, and Netgear has not updated the NAS to use a newer version of Debian.
The changes are needed because the Debian community also moved their linux libraries to an archived location when they deprecated Jessie. These were worked out by Sandshark - who does NOT work for Netgear. So this mod has nothing to do with Netgear (and to be clear - Netgear does not support it).
Did you try installing squeezebox without the mod? If the libraries needed are already on the NAS, then the install might work without the mod.
Assuming that you do need the mod:
The two files need to be put in the \etc\apt\ folder on your NAS. If you aren't comfortable using ssh to move them into that folder, then you can try WinSCP on a Windows PC. You'd need to
- Enable ssh on the NAS (system->settings->services)
- If the NAS is using the default admin password of password, you will need to change it
- Set up WinSCP to connect to the NAS IP address using the SFTP protocol. The username is root, the password is the NAS admin password
Once connected, you see the etc folder in the right pane of WinSCP Click on that, and you will see apt.
Once in apt, I suggest renaming sources.list to sources.list.orig. Then drag the modified files into the apt folder.
But the last step in @Sandshark's instructions still require use of ssh. You can launch ssh from Windows, and again log in as root using the NAS admin password. After you log in, you enter apt-get update
