ReadyNAS NVX 4000

Hello everyone, I'm sure this has been discussed a million times, but I would really appreciate some advice or direction on what to do.

I have an older NAS unit RNDP4000 - ReadyNAS Pro 4 firmware 4.2.28, (4) WD RED+ 4TB drives

Drive 1 bad

Drive 2 good

Drive 3 good

Drive 4 good

I had a drive go bad and I replaced the drive yesterday.  The software picked it up and was performing the resync and I went to bed. I woke up this morning and drive 1 is now a spare, drive 3 is dead, and drives 2 and 4 are ok.

Configuration is RAID Level X-RAID 2

Status shows DEAD

It shows zero space available and the status of C is unknown.

What happened?  Is there anything I can do without spending a bunch of money I don't have?  I have the logs is they help.

It makes me sick to think about the 15 years' worth of memories, business files, and personal files just gone.

Possibly disk 3 failed in the middle of the resync.  Are you seeing any errors to that effect in the logs?

Honestly, I haven't had time to go through them and I'm not sure what I'd be looking for, but I plan to go through them later tonight after the kid's homework etc.

If #3 did fail during the re-sync would that mean that the volume is lost?

Thanks for the quick response to an old product!

One more thing I don’t understand is that the front view shows 0TB as the amount of storage but the screen on the nas unit shows 5.9TB of 10TB available.
        Is this hopeful?
