ReadyNAS VLC
Hello,
Hello,
I have issue with installing VLC package trough SSH (root login), this package not possible to install because there is some incompatibility with built in software (ReadyNAS Photos II) and debian packages (photos2, ffmpg etc...). Is it possible to integrate VLC package in ReadyNAS Apps & Add-ons? Or maybe there is some other way how can install it?
thanks in advance!
It looks like there was a conflict in our packaging that needed to get corrected. The VLC is working on mrmaximus ReadyNAS now.
Others that are interested, there is a fix that is coming in the next firmware release that addresses this issue.

Hello mrmaximus,
What is the model number and firmware version of the ReadyNAS you have?
Apps/add-ons that are not in the list of available ones are the community add-ons that are not yet registered to NETGEAR. Developer needs to register it to NETGEAR.

model is :
RN31600-100EUS
firmware:
6.4.2
About developing, I am not able to develop such Apps/add-ons, question - who can help and develop? I doubt that VLC guys will do it special for Netgear :)

Hello mrmaximus,
Where did you get the VLC package then?
There are app developers who register their app to NETGEAR. http://apps.readynas.com/pages/?page_id=9 is the link for ReadyNAS OS6 available apps. Maybe posting your idea at Idea Exchange for ReadyNAS Network Storage board will help.
Regards,
- mrmaximusAspirantYes, i am getting the same error, but when i remove photos2 and ffmpg (this seems remove these conflict dependancies), afterwards i can install vlc.
And yes, vlc need for video streaming server, as a part of torrent tv solution (acestream).- OOM-9NETGEAR ExpertUnderstood.
Let me look into resolving the conflicts and seeing if it is something that is easily do-able on our end.- OOM-9NETGEAR Expert
