depends on the size of your library. My subsonic library is just over 1tb and needs about 800

I would recommend increasing it 100 at a time up to 800ish max until it stops crashing.

Subsonic is really the only app I use. If not that, then I use Airvideo and Skifta occasionally.

How do I disable auto-update?

log into the subsonic web page as admin, then under settings > search you can disable auto-update search index

If I do a factory default will I lose anything?

yes of course, you would have to backup all data, factory default, then restore data and reinstall any addons.

but if your running into memory problems, then you should adjust that, factory defaulting won't help if subsonic is running out of memory.

i've got subsonic installed, ran into not being able to stream the sound of a video, but i followed the steps above and updated the ffmpeg binary and got sound working! thanks very much!

i have a small problem now.. i don't seem to be able to buffer enough of the stream to actually watch a movie without pausing somwhat frequently... I am streaming at 1000kbs but ive tried 500kps too.

this *may* be the cause, but network and disk io arent that busy

I have a readynas ultra4 with 4 x 1T|WD WD1002FBYS 7.2K my laptop and readynas are both connected via 1G network, and my laptop is a thinkpad t400 4g ram and dualcore cpu.

I'm really a complete noob.

the following line defines how much memory is allocated:
SUBSONIC_MAX_MEMORY=256

I'm trying to ssh into but I'm not sure I'm doing it right because i'm not getting in. I'm using cyberduck. What do I enter as the server?

no need to ssh use notepad++ and edit the file from windows explorer

that's the problem. I don't know where the file is to edit it.

replace 192.168.1.20 with the IP @ of your readynas
