[req] Subsonic
http://www.subsonic.org/pages/index.jsp
appears to be GPL/open source, music streamer.. similar/same as orb but looks much more flexible and open.
assuming its possible, would love to see this available for x86 devices to stream directly from nas

you can ssh in and check webroot/subsonic/subsonic.sh
or browse to //nas/webroot/subsonic and open subsonic.sh with whatever notepad you use
look for the max memory line or something similarHow much memory should be allotted.
depends on the size of your library. My subsonic library is just over 1tb and needs about 800
I would recommend increasing it 100 at a time up to 800ish max until it stops crashing.Subsonic is really the only app I use. If not that, then I use Airvideo and Skifta occasionally.
does not have anything to do with other applicationsHow do I disable auto-update?
log into the subsonic web page as admin, then under settings > search you can disable auto-update search indexIf I do a factory default will I lose anything?
yes of course, you would have to backup all data, factory default, then restore data and reinstall any addons.
but if your running into memory problems, then you should adjust that, factory defaulting won't help if subsonic is running out of memory.- dcuellarAspirantOk. Thank you for your response. We'll see how it goes.
- onicromAspiranti've got subsonic installed, ran into not being able to stream the sound of a video, but i followed the steps above and updated the ffmpeg binary and got sound working! thanks very much!
i have a small problem now.. i don't seem to be able to buffer enough of the stream to actually watch a movie without pausing somwhat frequently... I am streaming at 1000kbs but ive tried 500kps too.
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
27516 root 25 5 42712 22m 2540 R 97 2.3 6:13.95 ffmpeg
this *may* be the cause, but network and disk io arent that busy
I have a readynas ultra4 with 4 x 1T|WD WD1002FBYS 7.2K my laptop and readynas are both connected via 1G network, and my laptop is a thinkpad t400 4g ram and dualcore cpu. - dcuellarAspirantI'm really a complete noob.
when you say go to webroot/subsonic/subsonic.sh how exactly do I do that? - onicromAspirantssh into the readynas
vi /c/webroot/subsonic/subsonic.sh
the following line defines how much memory is allocated:
SUBSONIC_MAX_MEMORY=256 - dcuellarAspirantI'm trying to ssh into but I'm not sure I'm doing it right because i'm not getting in. I'm using cyberduck. What do I enter as the server?
- super_poussinVirtuosono need to ssh use notepad++ and edit the file from windows explorer
- dcuellarAspirantthat's the problem. I don't know where the file is to edit it.
- super_poussinVirtuoso\\@ipof your nas\webroot\subsonic\
example :
\\192.168.1.20\webroot\subsonic
replace 192.168.1.20 with the IP @ of your readynas - dcuellarAspirantGod. I don't think I'm ever going to understand...
Where am I putting that? And where can I find the IP of my readynas
