Root Access Denied with SSH Enabled

Do a config backup (just users and groups is fine). Edit your /etc/shadow file in the zip to change the root password manually. Restore your new zip file and you should be in.
Replace your "root" user line with that, should set your root password to "netgear1". After the restore the NAS will probably want you to restart, but you shouldn't have to.
It's a crude trick, but should work.
