"Snapshot initialization failed" error every time

Please help me! I have paid a lot of money for two units with disks and licenses to run ReadyNas Replicate and I can't get it to work properly!
I get the same error message every time I try to use the ReadyNAS Replicate. I have tried running both Backup Data and Backup System and all the time I get "Snapshot initialization failed" error. Both devices are ReadyNAS NV+ v2 with RAIDiator 5.3.5 and Flex-RAID (Raid5) disk configuration (running 4 x Seagate ST3000DM001-9YN166 in each unit). I am running the latest version (1.1.3) of ReadyNAS Replicate (two purchased licenses). I have disabled encryption and not using compression to speed up the process. I have tried creating new backup jobs, removing the old failed folders and restarting both units several times. I can't see any solution, it feels like I have tried all combinations and it fails every time. Below is the log from the latest attempt to run a Backup System:

  • was getting the same error in log file. i too have the snapshot option in my UI and it was auto-set to 10. switched to "no snapshot", no issues.
  • But isn't the snapshot required for backups to function properly?
  • Snapshot support seems to have been removed since NV+ v1. The information below is taken from Netgear information from NV+ v1: http://www.readynas.com/?page_id=193#Overview

    ...
In addition to the various security options, the NV+ comes with snapshot support. Consider a snapshot as an instant point-in-time image of your data, sort of like a photo taken with a camera. Regardless of the number of files or the volume of data on the ReadyNAS, a snapshot only takes a couple of seconds, and you can continue using the ReadyNAS as usual during the snapshot process. If you inadvertantly change or delete files or folders after you’ve taken a snapshot, you can always revert to the version saved in that snapshot. This can be useful if your files were infected with a virus and you needed to revert back to a good copy saved at midnight.
A snapshot can also be scheduled to coincide with your backups. Typical backups can take hours, so a backup of a snapshot insures that you’re making a backup of something that won’t be changing during the backup process.
    ...

On this page about NV+ v2 Netgear says clearly that there is no snapshot backup support: http://www.netgear.com/images/ReadyNAS_ ... -57079.pdf
Instead of snapshot support there seems to be some kind of lock while making backup.

The NV+ v2 and NV+ (v1) use very different hardware and a different OS. The NV+ v2 has some features that the NV+ (v1) does not and vice versa.
