Transmission BT not downloading to specified location

Hi,

I am having issue with the Transmission BT add-on for my ReadyNAS NV+ v2.
I had no issue prior to moving house, but ever since, I cannot seem to locate files that are downloaded. I note that I also upgraded the firmware before moving, but cannot recall whether I downloaded anything before I did.

I had reset the default location to a "downloads" folder on my NAS, however the files do not appear in this location, the original location, or any other that I have searched, despite the file clearly displaying said "downloads" location. I have checked and there is no error in the folder name (though the last time there was, Transmission BT just created that folder for me).

I am no expert as you can no doubt tell, and therefore any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Vee

  • Hi Vee,
How have you been searching for files downloaded, via Windows, or using ssh/shell?

If Windows/Mac, What are the file permissions Transmission is using when downloading, and are you using similar credentials when searching? It might be a case that the Windows/Mac user does not have the permissions to view the files downloaded by Transmission.

Logging in as root via ssh and searching on the entire NAS should identify if the files are indeed being downloaded, where to and also the permissions of the files.
(the point above presumes you have ssh access enabled, and are familiar with unix)

  • Hi Kullyrai,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have been using Windows to search for the files. Don't know how to use ssh I'm afraid, so I haven't enabled it.
I've tried logging in as Admin, and as a user, and still I cannot find the files.

My setup is the same as that which I had previously - prior to moving house, and that is why I cannot understand why it now won't work.

I've just noticed that the listening port is closed, not sure if that causes any issue. The NAS does seem to be downloading - fan kicked into gear the other day when it was super hot. I just don't know where it is going.

    Thanks.
