No body got back to me here.
Got it working again after 2/3 reinstalls of firmware. Installed and uninstalled Transmission about a dozen times. 1.76 by the way. Couldn't get 1.77 to work this time.
I'm sure it had to do with the web interface port 8181 changing itself for some reason to 9091. Don't ask me why it done it.
Basically it took a reinstall that happened to work. Oh, also had to adjust the whitelist again to * value as stated in previous posts.
What a nightmare.
mutley - super_poussinVirtuosoplease use other words !!!
the default config file is ok for a std use.
if you edit it please use a good editor like notepad++ and stop transmission before doing any change.
If you did not change your way of speaking it will be my last answer to your post - Mutley1AspirantHi super-poussin.
It was supposed to be in good humour. The fact that we all want everything instantly these days, as opposed to me waiting for someone to kindly find the time to answer my questions.
The fact that you implied that you would stop answering posts and to tone it down, I guess means I've offended you and maybe others.
I'm sorry to all those that couldn't see the humour/irony.
I appologise to all that are offended.
But I have a question. Did anyone really think that it was a serious rant?, as I'd then gone on to post? And not directed at anybody?
Let me know.
mutley - super_poussinVirtuosoYou did not offend me , I'm too old for this. I only think such humour can be used only with very good friends and not on a forum :)
if you need help, answer to my questions, it will help to diagnose what's your transmission problem
FYI I will be on vacation
Merry Christmas - Mutley1AspirantAh good, we're still friends. I've got it going at the minute. And thanks for posting a reply. And you could have a point about what to put in a forum.
Have a nice Christmas.
mutley - badbrad1AspirantHi, new to the ReadyNas and transmission. Transmission has been working fine for a few months, but it suddenly started giving me the error message below and will not start/display. I've re-started Transmission several times to no effect. I tried to follow a similiar post about fixing this problem, but got lost! I cannot get into the /addons-config/Transmission/transmission-daemon/settings.json file. When I try to access either the "addons-config" subdirectory or the "webroot" directory on the ReadyNas, it keep asking for a password - but my normal password doesn't work. Really frustrated at this point - could someone help me out with this problem, please? Thanks.

Either disable the IP address whitelist or add your address to it.
If you're editing settings.json, see the 'rpc-whitelist' and 'rpc-whitelist-enabled' entries.
If you're still using ACLs, use a whitelist instead. See the transmission-daemon manpage for details.
