Transmission installation problem
Hi,
I've got a Netgear Ultra 2 NAS, and am trying to install Transmission BitTorrent client. However earlier on when i tried it had a "Failed installation" for some reason. Nothing appeared in the "Installed Add-ons" tab. So i tried to install it again, then i get the error message "Installation of this add-on conflicts with an existing service. Aborting installation." after uploading the .bin file and clicking "Install". I tried with both the latest stable release, and the latest beta release, both gives the same error. So i tried to restore the NAS to factory defaults, but it did not fix the error.
Please help.
Regards, KgOlve.
Also, sorry if this was the wrong section to post this, did not see a "Bug Reports" section.

- WhoCares_MentorIf you have SSH access to your NAS, go in and delete all lines starting with "TRANSMISSION" from the file "/etc/default/services".
-Stefan - KgOlveAspirantHi,
Thank you for your reply. I tried installing SSH earlier on, as it was strongly recommended as a precaution against something going bad, however after installing SSH i didn't notice anything different, and in there was no new add-on in the "Installed Add-ons" tab. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou need to SSH in to remove the lines WhoCares? mentioned from /etc/default/services.
- KgOlveAspirantHi,
Sorry i wasn't specific in my other post, but i meant to say, how do i know if SSH installed properly, and how do i "SSH in to remove the lines"? :) - KgOlveAspirantI downloaded Putty, loaded it, input the local ip of the nas with port 22, and hit enter. Then i was asked for password and username, i typed in admin and the admin password, then the command line box just disappeared and i have no idea what to do now ...
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe box should not disappear. Did you install SSH?
- KgOlveAspirantNow i checked "Close window on exit: Never" in Putty, and after trying to log in i get an error message saying "Connection Closed by Remote Host". This must be the problem.
Yes, EnableRootSSH is installed. - WhoCares_Mentor"Connection closed by remote host" generally means you're using either the wrong password, the wrong username or both.
For SSH access the username is "root" (not "admin") but you have to use the password for the admin user ;)
-Stefan - KgOlveAspirantAh, yes, using "root" as the username worked.
How do i get to those lines i was supposed to delete now then?
When i just paste in "/etc/default/services" it tells me access denied: http://puu.sh/tMlB.jpg
I tried typing in "help" to see if i could find any useful commands, but none of them seemed useful. And commands like "go", "run", "open", "Edit" doesn't work either. - WhoCares_MentorTry this:
cp /etc/default/services /etc/default/services.bak
sed -i "/^TRANSMISSION[_=]/d" /etc/default/services
The first line creates a backup copy of the original file, the second line is responsible for removing the entries in the /etc/default/services file that are causing your problem.
