update of firmware on RN10400
Does the RN10400 need the hard drives onboard for its firmware to be updated?
In other words, how can a nasbox firmware update be done if readycloud account is not accessible?

Hi C09,
You need at least one disk to be inserted on the NAS so you can update its firmware.
If the NAS is not accessible via ReadyCLOUD, you can still update its firmware. If the NAS can access the Internet, you can automatically update the firmware of it. You may do that by accessing https://<ReadyNAS IP address>, where <ReadyNAS IP address> is the IP address of the NAS. Go to Select System > Settings > Update. Click the Check for Updates button.
If the NAS cannot connect to the Internet, you may follow these steps on how to update the firmware manually:
1. Using a computer that can connect to the Internet, download the latest firmware of your system on this link. Currently, the latest firmware is 6.9.5.
2. Access https://<ReadyNAS IP address>, where <ReadyNAS IP address> is the IP address of the NAS.
3. Click the Install Firmware button. Click the Browse button. In the file browser pop-up that displays, navigate to the file containing the updated firmware and select it.
4. Click the Upload button. The firmware file uploads to your ReadyNAS system. After a few moments, the Update Firmware pop-up screen displays details about the new firmware.
5. Click the Install button. Reboot the NAS when you are prompted to reboot it to complete the firmware installation.
You may also check this link for more information on how you can update the firmware on ReadyNAS OS6.

Hi C09,
Please also take note that RN104 must not be updated directly to 6.9.x from 6.3.x or older firmware. You must update first the NAS to either 6.2.5 or 6.3.5 then to 6.5.2 and then onto 6.9.x.
