There are a number of ways to accomplish this, however, it would be better if you could provide a few scenarios of what you're trying to do.
For example:
a) do you want to make these files available to anyone with the password, or specific people?
b) do you require separate credentials for each user?
c) does each user have access to the same files?
1. HTTP file-sharing is built into the NAS and you can easily stuff on your NAS. Users could be required to enter a username/password to access the files on the website and they would have access to whatever files are in that share.
2. Use ReadyNAS Remote. This would be for trusted users (friends, family, etc.) to access the NAS directly over an encrypted tunnel. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEBqP-m2404 & http://www.readynas.com/?cat=52. They would have access to whatever shares you select.
3. Setup a Wordpress Blog (via community add-on). You can host files on password-protected pages.
4. Use WebDAV: http://www.readynas.com/?p=126. Same sort of access as #1 & 2 above.
