Well after they told me it wasn't covered I ordered a PSU from Amazon, and that one is now installed and the NV+ is humming.
First check was power up with all disks removed - that came up OK with ERR No Disks which was reasonable :)
Now with the disks installed (yes, in the right order) it's booted and doing File System Check.
I guess the fsck could take an hour or so worst case, even though its RAM is upgraded to maximum.
