1TB usb drive formats to 193 GB EXT3

So if I format the HD attached directly to my Mac or to the Airport Extreme I see the normal 1TB size and approx 999GB free, however when I attach it to the readynas duo I only see 193 GB available, and when I format it through front view (EXT3) I only end up with 193 GB.

What am I doing wrong and how do I get this working.

I want to use this as a backup drive for content on the readynas.

Thank you for your help

Connect the disk to your Mac again and format it again, this time under Options (I think) select to use MBR partitioning. Then connect it to your ReadyNAS and format it to EXT3 via Frontview again.
  • It looks like this is working - currently formatting external drive to EXT3 and its showing 931 GBs!

Thank you for your quick response.
