So you locked the warranty thread so I couldn't respond but here's a perfect example of issues with 6.4 and even betas. You also stated to buy from newegg.com and not eBay but NEWEGG SELLS ON EBAY. Why buy through newegg's eBay store? It's the same price but you get eBay bucks (2% cash back) and other perks if you frequently use eBay. So you mean to tell me that if I buy from newegg through their eBay store I don't have a warranty?
Anyway back on topic:
When you login to the admin console and it tells you there's an update it doesn't say the changelog or that you can't downgrade, it just says
upgrade or cancel (or something along those lines. The upgrade is clickable I believe and that takes you to the changelog (if I recall correctly) but doesn't flat out tell you the gist of what the update is about nore does it it say on that simple little box that downgrading isn't possible or as you put it in many many different posts that 6.4.0 was a big update and issues can occur during big updates (although I thought that's why we beta tested items?) Did not enough people complain about the betas that netgear was like, cool, no one's complaining about stability, we're good to release!
All these people that got blindsided when 6.4.0 came out didn't know that they wouldn't be able to downgrade because A, most of them didn't know it'd be such a buggy process and B if they had bad experiences in the past they could downgrade (at least a large percentage of the time.)

It sure is.
I went to the console to check my UPS was functioning correctly and like you, I was told that there was an update. There's no more information given than that. It doesn't tell you that you can't downgrade if it doesn't work. So I up dated my firmware, I have a 102, and disaster, all my backup routines failed because of the USB issue. Surely making certain that USBs function correctly is somewhat basic is it not? So for the last two weeks or so, no backups. I have been doing manual backups of projects I am working on locally so can recover if I suffer a major failure. Netgear have suggested that I try certain beta firmware updates. Do they think I fell off a Christmas tree? At least my NAS works, doesn't crash etc etc, it just doesn't offer the USB functions anymore.
I have an old ReadyNas V1 and never ever had this problem in all the time I had it. Yet since I have had my 102, about 18 months, I have had nothing but trouble caused by firmware updates. 6.2.5 please come back, all is forgiven.
Netgear, never ever again for my business.
