The browse function is fine for the files that are in shares, however not everything on my NAS is in a share. What if I need to access a user's home folder ? I know I could create a share for that folder and go from there but the fact is for the I don't like using shares as removing shares removes the actual folder AND the data...really dumb design. And I don't like the idea of having a bunch of typically unused shares on the system. Shares should not be actual folders but pointers, permission containers if you will. I can connect to the C volume via SMB as admin and generally do what I want but files sometimes get 'locked' and widows explorer won't allow me to edit files. So I am looking for a root access file manager, I know this could all be done via a shell but I prefer to work in a visual environment. I have looked into pydio and ajax explorer but don't know how to configure them to show my root file system.
