I have bad news. Not a single person offered a working solution. I have since bought a 516 and all is working again. Check one thing with your error that I found when doing a backup to see if you have it maybe. I could not do sustained transfers from the pro to the 516 over Ethernet. I had to buy a very large external drive and then everything would copy by USB. I don't know if this is yet another piece to the other trouble, or just something new. I actually bought two 516s, and they talk by Ethernet (all three NAS go into netgear switches and use adaptive load balancing settings) just fine. I do get a periodic error on the 516s when I have been cleaning up that the thumbs files are in use by explorer and cannot be deleted. This has made some folders undeletable. I am still arranging and I will see if this persists after a restart.
Could you post how your Mac is connected to the nas, what settings you are using, and maybe the last thing you did prior to it stopping. What is the error you get?
I am going to RMA the pro since it has 3 months of warranty left and hope it comes home feeling better. It was pretty useless with this error.
Let me know if you solve it and I will be happy to let you know what I have tried privately that hasn't worked.
