I can assure NAS GUI, 'Hide this folder' option hasn't been ticked.
Though that was asked early on, it's actually not relevant when you are accessing the share explicitly. \\nasname\folder or net use t: \\nasname\folder will work even if the folder is hidden.
Let's step back a moment. Can you access the shares on the NAS that are on the data volume? Or is this specific to USB drives?
Also, what firmware are you running?

Hello
\\nasname\folder regardless of whether IP or nasname is used, access is denied.
Can you access the shares on the NAS that are on the data volume?
Using a browser I can access the USB drive, create folders, add files. What I cannot do is use Windows Explorer to access the drive. Using ReadyCloud I have found a mentod to access the USB Drive.
Using my Netgear ReadyNas AV+ I'm able to create a drive share. Doing this allows me to use Windows Explorer to add, create folders and new files etc. In other words I can directly access the drive without having to use any additional software. This is my preferred way to access a drive connected to NAS as I do not need to install ReadyCloud software on other devices on the Network.
Firmware 6.5.1
Thank you for your help and assistance to resolve this issue.

So
-you can't access anything on the RN104 with windows explorer, this is not specific to the USB drive.
-but the same PC can access your NV+ with windows explorer
-the PC is running windows 10 enterprise
-both the NV+ and the RN104 have SMB enabled, and the NAS shares on both machines have guest access enabled.
Let me know if I am getting this wrong.
Assuming I'm not -
-are the two NAS connected to the network the same way (that is, through the same switch/router)?
-does the PC have any internet security software installed?
-are both NAS set to the same windows workgroup?
-does the computer name or the username on the PC match an account or a share name on the NAS?
-does the behavior change if you uninstall ReadyCloud?

Hello
First section, YES to all below.
-you can't access anything on the RN104 with windows explorer, this is not specific to the USB drive.
-but the same PC can access your NV+ with windows explorer

-both the NV+ and the RN104 have SMB enabled, and the NAS shares on both machines have guest access enabled.

Second section
-are the two NAS connected to the network the same way (that is, through the same switch/router)? Yes switch.
-does the PC have any internet security software installed? Use Windows Defender.
-are both NAS set to the same windows workgroup? Yes.
-does the computer name or the username on the PC match an account or a share name on the NAS? NAS login differs to Win 10 computer and user names.
-does the behavior change if you uninstall ReadyCloud? No

Ok, but does either the PC logon or PC name happen to match the name of a public share on the NAS?
- CABird_UKAug 03, 2016Tutor
Does either the PC logon or PC name happen to match the name of a public share on the NAS? NO - NAS public share applied defaults see below.

Try enabling guest access on the USB share and see if anything changes.
Do you have public shares on the data volume? If so, are you trying them also?

Not possible. File Access>Security MESSAGE READS 'The feature is not supported for the selected share/device'

What you are calling folders are public shares (and are shown on the web ui "shares" page, etc). If you can access them with windows explorer then your earlier answer (quoted below) was wrong.

Open Explorer, use IP address to log onto NAS drive, under share tab there are folders for example Documents, Videos, Music etc.

I cannot open This PC or Windows explorer and see these folders listed. Navigate to Network, I see other computers on the Network as well as devices such as NAS-E6-4B-B2 (NAS drive) I click on this and Windows cannot access \\NAS-E6-4B-B2 consequently I cannot navigate to folders.
So please - is your problem specific to the USB drive, or is it a general problem with accessing the RN104 shares from windows explorer?
Let me be absolutely clear. NO access to USB drive (not listed in This PC or Windows Explorer as an available drive. NAS shares cannot be accessed for example Doucments.
Hopefully the below images migh help.
- StephenBAug 04, 2016Guru - Experienced User
Thanks, that helps.
This statement
>>>Media Devices>Pictures or Videos or Music folders can access.
was making me think that the NAS internal shares were accessible from windows explorer.
One challenge here is that you are centering your vocabulary around windows explorer, and I am centering mine around the NAS / web UI. Just knowing that helps me.

Just an observation here (I am a Pro 4 not a 104 user), I hope I am not being dumb, but how have 4 USB Drives been attached externally?
Or can a USB hub be used with Readynas'?
- StephenBAug 04, 2016Guru - Experienced User
Back on point....
Ignoring USB for now.
\\192.168.1.65
\\NAS-E6-4B-B2
both fail from explorer
net use t: \\192.168.1.65\data /user:admin password
net use t: \\NAS-E6-4B-B2\data /user:admin password
both fail from cmd
No shares on the NAS match the PC username or the PC hostname
The PC and the NAS are in the same workgroup.
No internet security software on the PC (just windows defender)
PC network is configured as private.
The NAS can be reached through http (web admin ui)
And DLNA (media devices) works too.
Does this sum it up?
If so, its not about connectivity, and its not about credentials. But it isn't clear what is.
- bedlam1Aug 04, 2016Prodigy
Oh .....pardon me for being a distraction :manfrustrated:
- bedlam1Aug 04, 2016Prodigy
Ok thanks.....am confused how 4 are shown (but I am no expert)

Can you describe what you found/did to resolve your problem for the benefit of others? - CABird_UKAug 05, 2016Tutor
Resolved thank you.
Other users in my network simply won't learn how to use Ready Cloud but will use a Windows share.
Really appreicate the assistance in resolving this issue.
- StephenBAug 05, 2016Guru - Experienced User
If 5.236.91.16 is the IP address, then I think you are accessing the NAS through the ReadyCloud VPN, and not directly.
You might want to check your transfer speeds by reading/writing a large file to the NAS and looking at the speed graph windows-10 gives you (or simply timing the transfer with a watch).
- CABird_UKAug 05, 2016Tutor
Thanks, other users generally don't work with large files nevertheless I will run the tests as I know users will complain if they think they are waiting to long.
