Access time to files on ReadyNAS Duo is very slow
I have a share on my NAS drive called 'Projects' where I store my work in various folders. When I click on a folder within Projects to access it, the folder takes a really long time to open. It will take anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute.
I have an iMac running 10.12 Sierra. The NAS is connected to a d-link router. Configuration-X-RAID (Expandable RAID), 2 disks (500gb drives).
How can I speed up the access time to the folders?

What firmware is running on the NAS?
Are you using AFP or SMB?
Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.15 [1.00a043]
I typically login to it using SMB. However I have tried both SMB and AFP and get the same issue.
