Well the options are as follows:
1. ReadyNAS Remote (as you said)
2. HTTPS accessing the share(s), and to do this you have to do as follows:
- Forward your https port on your router (you set this in your frontview (standard is 443, and you can set your own specified port). This will also make your NAS administrable from the outside as well, with typing "https://yourofficialIP:yourport/admin" in any browser. And if you only type "https://yourofficialIP:yourport" you get to access your shares. "yourport" is the port you set at frontview and "yourofficialIP" is your official IP address given to your router. This can be found if you access the site http://www.whatsmyip.org/. To change the HTTPS port go to: Services -> Standard File Protocols -> HTTPS
3. Set up FTP access to the share and forward port 21 (or another port if you have altered this in Services -> Standard File Protocols -> FTP)
- To do this, access your shares menu in frontview, and set your desired settings on the FTP option, and try connecting with a client. You will need to access via your official IP address (as explained above). If you use port 21 (which is standard) the program will figure this out on its own. FileZilla is a free FTP client which is nice for this use.
Hope this helps in any way :) If anything is unclear, feel free to ask
EDIT: Stephen beat me to the explanation, maybe his links are a bit clearer about the suggestions than me :)
