The NAS has user accounts and passwords.
When Windows accesses the NAS by default it uses the the windows user/password you used when you logged into windows.
If that windows username isn't configured on the NAS and the folders are shared with "everyone" access this doesn't matter. You get guest access to the folder.
But if the windows user name is listed as a NAS user account, then you need to make sure the password on the NAS and the PC match. Otherwise the Windows credentials will not work. For instance, if you are logging in as "admin" on the PC, then you need to make sure the admin password on the PC matches the admin password on the NAS.
Also if the folders are not shared with "everyone" access then of course you need to be using NAS user credentials.
There are three ways to solve this:
(a) confirm that the NAS has a user name that matches the one you are using on the problem PC. If so, set the password for the NAS user to match your windows password. If not, create a user account on the NAS that matches your PC username/password
(b) use the Windows Credential manager to enter the credentials you want Windows to use when it accesses the NAS
(c) tell Windows to remember your credentials
I've tried all of this and still cant access any of my shares. I've set my NAS admin password as my windows password and have set it up in the Credential manager and I cant open ANY Of MY Shares, all of which were previously available without any kind of login. This is driving me crazy. I'm on Win 8.1 64bit
Any suggesstions? I get a perpetual loop where Windows Security pops up and asks for network credentials. I try to use my windows login and get errot message "Specified Network Password is not correct" So I try using the Nas Username and password and get exactly the same error. Uggggghhh!
