Accessing ReadyNAS Outside of Network

I have admin rights on my notebook. I don't *THINK* they have a firewall, and when I first went to use the wireless, I had to sign in with my user name (.edu email address) and password, but just that first time.
Another thing I'm wondering about too-at school, it's a public network (You have to go to school there or work there to access it, so it is somewhat limited). Does that mean that anybody else connected to that network could also get into my NAS, or even see what I'm up to on the internet?
