Added 2nd Larger Disk
I have a ReadyNAS Duo v2
i have a 1TB disk full, so i have added a 2nd disk, a 3TB drive.
It has XRAID on it and now says
/c
X-RAID2 (Redundant)
1 GB Free Of 913.4 GB
i need to free up the additional space. I have photos from my DSLR on there and loads of Videos and dont ahve anywhere to back this up to, can someone guide me to get the 3TB space on the nas

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou'd need to upgrade your 1TB drive to 3 TB to get the additional space. After that, you'd have 3 TB of total space, and protection against a single drive failure.
The other option would be to buy a backup USB drive, copy all your data to it, and then do a factory reset (which will wipe your data) and use flexraid. Then you would end up with 4 TB of total space but no protection against drive failures.
Since you are using your NAS for primary storage, you really need a backup anyway. Without one you will lose your data - it is only a mater of when. - wifiukAspiranti have a D drive on my pc with the same DSLR photos, so they are mirrored to the NAS on each boot. the videos i dont mind i can download them again, but i just dont have 1TB spare to back them up somewhere else at the moment.. so basically i cant do anything without loosing all the data?
what if i remove the 1TB disk for now, would the 3TB take over and give the extra space? - wifiukAspirantor what if i take the 3TB out and add it to my PC and format it, then copy NAS to the 3TB and then set it to flexiraid ( might need a guide ) then copy data back to NAS then add the 3TB?

That would work. There's a guide in the software manual - http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 5Sep12.pdfwifiuk wrote: or what if i take the 3TB out and add it to my PC and format it, then copy NAS to the 3TB and then set it to flexiraid ( might need a guide ) then copy data back to NAS then add the 3TB?
The factory reset is described in the hardware manual - http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... Mar-12.pdf
