Back up to hdd via usb
ReadyNas duo v2
I have 2 drives in X-raid 2 array and I want to backup (45GB music) using a matching hdd in an enclosure via usb. Do I have to format the new hdd and what type of files do I use. Is there a procedure to follow to backup everything.
Thanks Paul

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI suggest formatting it as NTFS. Then you can easily read the backup on a PC (which I think outweighs any speed advantage you'd get from ext).
Read the "Back Up Data onto a Local Device" section of the manual on page 82: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 5Sep12.pdf - aacceeAspirantThank you for the info, apologies for the delay, I'm in a time warp down here. Will follow this through and see how I go

Ok, I have started the back up process manually and have a green light showing on 'Status', is there any way to monitor the progress.
Also I'm unsure of what the purpose of backup 'share' is?
Thanks Paul - ihartleyTutorBackup to Google Play :-)

There is no direct way to monitor progress, other than looking on the USB drive, and seeing how much has been stored.aaccee wrote: ...is there any way to monitor the progress.
It really doesn't have a dedicated purpose. You can use it as a destination for PC backups if you like, or even just delete it.aaccee wrote: Also I'm unsure of what the purpose of backup 'share' is? - aacceeAspirantMany thanks, i was surprised how quick it went, thanks Paul
