Backup - repeat try?
I have ReadyNAS 102.. update 6.1.12
Scenario is that my wife prefers to use her remote NAS Share as her primary location for docs.. (so she can use any computer in the house)...
However, I need to organise a backup of her share (after the Netgear STORA died and we nearly lost her data) .. so thought I would back it up to her machine.
Problem is.. her computer is not on all the time and so if I schedule a backup job from the NAS to her comp.. I cant be sure her comp will be on to receive the backup.
If her comp not on.. I suspect the backup will just fail.. is that correct? or is the NAS clever enough to keep trying until successful? (and perhaps only bug out and alert me if it fails for more than X attempts/days/)
Any ideas on how to solve this prob? or am I going to have to consider a backup to an online location like Vault or Dropbox?
Thanks in advance and best regards.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe built-in scheduled backup will fail if her computer is not on when it is scheduled.
So you can
(a) use a different destination (vault, dropbox, a USB drive connected to the NAS, or a PC that you know will be on).
(b) show her how to manually back up her data. One approach is to set up the backup button on the NAS to just run her backup job, and have her push it (with her PC on).
(c) find a program that runs on her PC which can back up the NAS share to the PC on schedule. If her PC is a desktop, you should be able to find a package that will also turn on her PC. Acronis backup is one program that can do this.
There might be other possibilities, this is just what occurs to me. - YojiAspirantThanks - I have settled for backup up to my PC.. its got the room and has a much higher chance of being on.
Cheers :)
