Backup job shows "In Progress" but is taking DAYS (100GB backup)
Hello all,
I connected an external USB drive to the front of my RN316 on Sunday morning and started at backup job. There is only 100 GB of data on the external. I made sure that I could access/read the external drive via the ReadyNas web portal prior to starting the backup. Here I am, over 72 hours later, and the indicator via the web app stills says "In Progress". Is there is percentage meter that I am overlooking so I can determine if it's stuck? The log does not state anything about errors.
Thank ahead of time,
Roy
You can cancel the job, then restart it. If you have the setting to incremental (full backup first time only), then it will simply continue from where it finished.

So you are taking data from the external drive back on to the NAS (restore)? Do you see the data appearing on the NAS somewhere, maybe the share that you used for restore?
If you have ssh access, you can check whether the job is running using "ps axf" and you should find a process in the list? An easy check for progress is to use "du" on the source and target directories to see how far the job has reached. Let me know if this sounds all strange to you and I will explain more.

Hi Tony,
Sorry, that all sounds strange to me. I am backuping up data from the external drive to the NAS via the Backup feature on the ReadyNAS web portal. The numbers I quoted are a little different (sorry, I was on my other PC when I wrote the original message). The data on the external consumes 160.9 GB. Looking at the shares on my ReadyNAS, I can see that the backup currently is consuming 128.8 GB. Maybe I should wait another few hours to see if that number changes.
I guess waiting a few hours and looking at the "Consumed" column works as a progress indicator. No movement since my last post several hours ago. I guess the backup is stuck.
