Backup not working

I am having the same problem but slighlty more complex. After ungrading, one backup on each XP machine worked OK. SInce then I get the same error messages as others in this thread. The 'test connection' buttom just gives "error connecting to...". Also, in the previous verison, I could view the log of the backup as it progressed. Now I can only see the log of the previously completed backup when I try to look at the look as the new back up is progressing. Is there a system log I can look at to see what is failing when I press the "test connection"?
