Additional info from additional testing
With the new NV+, I am setting up other backup jobs that go to other computers (not to another NV as in the above previous post) identically to how they were done on the old NV....same settings, same path name, etc. BUT they fail the "Test Connection". They work fine on the NV...tried it 10 seconds later.
I did choose Windows/NAS (Timestamp)....that *is* different b/c thats not an option on my NV...just Windows NAS is). But I tried Windows (Archive Bit) as well. that didnt work either
The FAQs/WIKI/Manual werent helpful, either (eg "How do I resolve the "access denied" error during a Backup using the FrontView Backup Manager?
Verify that you are able to access the backup source share over the selected protocol and using the credentials you entered when configuring the backup job. ") The user manual on pg 1-43 is useless....eg, describing only that test connection tests the connection....mentions nothing of the issues around choosing Windows (Archive Bit) that the wiki does (I guess the wiki is the manual de facto?) etc
Is this just not ready for prime time? I know its the weekend, but would really like to know. Im within the return period on the NV+, but have to decide by Wednesday....and have very little time to spend hours and hours on this during the week (Im the unfortunate small business guy - that im sure nobody wants to hear from - not the techie)
On a related note, Im quite happy to pay someone to fix this; I dont need to further my knowledge of network protocols.....and would beat waiting for what im sure would be hours and hours on a vonage line for tech support located at the ends of the Earth in one of Dante's layers. Is there that option somewhere (and not the 3 year $ 60 dollars certificate that allows you to wait forever for 1st level support to read you a CD ROM of instructions you should have read already tech support)?
