Bad Drive Replaced, Not Resyncing
I have a four drive ReadyNAS in a RAID5 array. I replaced a failing hard drive this morning but the array is not resyncing. It's using xraid and firmware 6.1.9, drives 1,3, & 4 are blue and drive 2 (...

Similar situation
RN2120 - 4 Drives - 4TB each (same make/model)
Firmware - 6.2.4
RAID5
Drive 1 went bad and got a RMA replacement, same make/model.
Tech installed the new drive on Friday (Sept 04) and today (Tues 09-08) it still shows as RED. Log file does not show any info that it even attempted to resynch.
Had tech remove new drive 1 and re-seat it again. status has not changed.
According to this procedure http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23456 - RN2120 is completely hot swappable and does not require any input from the user or reboot.
Please advise.

What model drives are you using?
You are correct, the unit supports hot-swapping. You can use the support "live chat" option, support can likely figure out the issue faster than the forum.

I think support is a good next stop.
They will want a full log download, so you might as well do that now.

I guess it could be possible that the replacement drive I received is defective too. It is a refurbished unit according to the receiving slip.
How can we test the replacement drive? Can my tech could pull the replacement drive and connect it to a PC to see if it detects the drive?

Yes you can do this and use WD lifeguard to test the drive thoroughly.
Is there a backup?
Have you attempted at least one reboot?
