Can I set up ReadyNAS Duo without RAID?

This is not working for me and I Cant figure out why. here is the proceedure I am following
1. Power off NAS
2. Turn on RAIDar (most recent version)
3. Press and hold reset button
4. Turn on NAS while holding reset until the drive lights turn on
The NAS then goes through the boot process
RAIDar sees it boot but at no time do I Get the chance to reconfigure the raid.
HELP
There is currently 2 500GB drives in there but if I can get this working I wil lreplace them with 2x2TB drives to give me 4TB of space
Help would be appreciated
